5 Common Fitness Excuses and How to Conquer Them

No one is above making excuses. The really hard part is overcoming them, especially when it comes to exercise. Here’s a list of some common excuses for avoiding exercise and how to conquer them.

1) I don’t have enough time.

We understand that you are busy, but when you spend time being there for everyone else, you neglect yourself. Flip the situation. If you neglect yourself, how can you continue to be there for others? Try scheduling your workouts the same way you organize the lives of others. Add it to your calendar or to-do list and make it a priority.

2) But, I have the kids.

Kids need exercise, too. Take them with you or workout together. Elite Sports Clubs has many kid friendly activities as well as a supervised playroom for your children to enjoy while you workout. You can also play sports in your backyard and go on walks or scavenger hunts. You can even have a fun, family bike ride. This way your whole family will be healthy.

3) I’m not in good enough shape.

Well, isn’t that what exercise is for? If you have excess weight and you worry it will be difficult, start slowly. Don’t do anything high impact until you are ready. Try low impact exercises like riding a bike, walking or swimming to start. Don’t over do it, every little bit helps. Before you know it, you will be in better shape and you won’t be able to justify using this excuse anymore.

4) I’m too tired.

If you are too tired, try working out whenever you are the most awake. If you are a night owl, workout at night. If you are a morning bird, then try exercising first thing in the morning. Also keep in mind that exercise raises your endorphins meaning once you start exercising, you probably won’t feel tired.

5) I’m too sore.

There is a difference between being sore and being injured. If you are injured, then you should consult a doctor or get a free injury assessment from our SMART Clinic. If you are sore, it could be an indicator that your workouts are working. Instead of skipping your workout, work a different part of your body. If your back is sore, work on your legs. If your legs hurt, try your arms. Being sore is part of the process.

There are many excuses that people come up with to avoid working out, but the truth is, most excuses just don’t hold up. When you find yourself in that place, just remember, no one said it would be easy, but the results are worth it. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but its beauty endures. Exercising can dramatically improve your quality of life. We only have one life to live and one body to live it with. If you don’t take care of your health now, you might regret it later. There are no excuses! Contact Elite Sports Clubs today to get started.
