We’re extremely proud of our members. Over the years their work out agendas and sporting endeavors serve as healthy examples of how it feels to be “Elite,” and how exercise not only adds years to your life, but life to your years!
Last week marked the finale of Elite’s 6-week Team Weight Loss Challenge, the first ever of its kind in the history of the clubs. Teams of 4-6 members as well as non-members got together with a singular goal in mind, to lose weight. For some that was just a few pounds, others quite a bit more. Nevertheless, it was an admirable goal for all those who participated.
We set out with our own goal too: 400 participants & 2014lbs. And needless to say, much like many of those who competed in the challenge, we met and far surpassed that goal! Between all five of the Elite Sports Clubs, we had 406 participants, and together, they lost a total of 2239.8lbs!
We are SO PROUD of all of you! We may have provided the health clubs & the personal trainers as your coaches, but it’s the SWEAT EQUITY that you all put into the challenge that made the difference. We have heard from many that having that team accountability was also a big motivator, which is exactly why we switched from an individual challenge, to a team-oriented program. It’s all about having that group of your peers support you and push you forward; similar to what we often see in our small group training programs, group exercise classes, and even our sports & tennis leagues.
We have all heard the following saying in some shape or form: “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.”
Well, it seems as if this inaugural year of Elite’s Team Weight Loss Challenge has done exactly that, and much more…
Every once in awhile you get the feeling you can make a difference. I thought I would share this with you so that you may share within your organization. [In reference to the statement below.] It is not often I get to have such good feelings over helping our employees live a better life. -Bruce L.
From the bottom of my heart, I say, Thank You!!! Going to a Health Club is not something that I can afford and you made it possible. I am working with a wonderful trainer that is taking the time to show me how to exercise effectively. In the last week and a half I have lost 8 pounds. (Now I just have to do that 10 more times.) Hopefully this is the beginning of a weight loss journey that I should have taken long ago. I also think that this is great for building relationships with each other. It is fun to see and exercise with people we work with. It takes us out of the work environment and allows us to get to know each other a little bit better. -Laura W.
I have been thinking of you a lot lately because I joined one of the Weight Loss Challenge teams at Elite and managed to lose the 10 extra pounds I had gained over the past few years….I did it by eating sensibly and I channeled all of the good advise you gave me last year when I was part of your nutrition class…I stayed true to my overall goal which was to get the weight off, increase my energy, develop healthier eating habits, and keep the weight off. Thank you for all of our long chats, recipes, tips, and support. -Tracy T. [A note to Elite’s Registered Dietitian, Rita Larsen.]
Last night was very nice. I was impressed with the venue chosen and the food was excellent. -Linda D. [In reference to the finale party at the Hilton City Center in downtown Milwaukee.]
The above statements are just a few we received from those who participated in the challenge. If you have your own story to share, submit it here! We’d love to hear from you!
Again, congratulations to ALL of the teams who participated in this awesome program. You are all winners (or losers?) in our eyes! Here’s to continued weight loss and healthy living!
