Why Leisure Activities are Good for You

How much time for leisure do you set aside for yourself? For most, the answer is always “not enough” and on the rare occasion we do, we never really step away from work and life’s daily demands. When was the last time you took a day – or even a few hours – without checking your phone, emails, task lists, and deadline worries to do something you enjoy, something fun?

Not taking enough time for yourself to unwind by doing a fun activity, without any of the heavy weight, concern or worry for work or daily duties wreaks havoc on our health. Life is busy, there’s never enough time for everything, that’s not news to you. But always being on the go makes for a lot of stress. That constant stress is what strains health affecting your mind, body and behavior, left to run rampant, stress can cause:

  • Sleeping disorders
  • Decreased immune system function
  • Irritability
  • Digestive disorders and ulcers
  • Depression
  • Heart problems and high blood pressure
  • Lack of motivation and decreased quality of work
  • Obesity

You don’t want any of those ravaging effects of stress messing with your health and neither do we. We want you to take a bit of time for you, have some fun and forget about the stress of life for a while. Unfortunately we can’t give you a lavish getaway or hide you from your boss for a week but we can invite you to join us at Elite Sports Clubs Brookfield-West Casino Night Friday, February 14th! It’ll be a fun-filled night of gaming, tasty appetizers, a complimentary beverage, cash bar, raffles, and a DJ spinning dance inducing music.
