Oh summer, summer! Wherefore art thou summer?! When summer finally does decide to pay us a visit we’ll be celebrating with festivals, Brewers games and several run/walk and bike races! We’ve compiled a list of 10 of the hottest run/walk and biking events Milwaukee has to offer – get outside for some healthy celebration of winter’s end!
The Lowdown: A 5K run or 2-mile walk and a 1-mile kids run with a delicious cupcake trophy waiting for you at the end. It’s simply the sweetest run you’ve ever done! Proceeds benefit our community schools.

The Lowdown: It’s 8th Annual Mequon-Thiensville Education Foundation (MTEF) 5K run/walk and Kids’ 100m Dash. Last year’s race raised over $12,000 for the MTEF! Stop out, support education and help them beat last year’s fundraising record!

Gathering Green – Run the Green
The Lowdown: The Annual “Run on the Green” 5K and Youth Fun Run takes you through Mequon Rotary Park’s paved, gravel and grass trails. They’ll also have live musical performances along the way cause, what’s a run without a playlist?

UPAF Ride for the Arts
The Lowdown: One of the nation’s largest single day recreational bike rides featuring 5, 12, 25, 40 and 66 mile routes along the Lakefront, Hoan Bridge and many other notable Milwaukee landmarks. Proceeds benefit the UPAF Annual Campaign which works to keep the performing arts vibrant in out community.

Fat Tire Tour of Milwaukee
The Lowdown: The theme of this year’s Fat Tire Tour of Milwaukee Napoleon Dynamite so, if you can throw a football like Uncle Rico, get 3 feet of air off a sweet jump with your Sledgehammer bike or dance as smooth as Napoleon himself this 25 mile ride of “sweet” is for you.

Tour of America’s Dairyland
The Lowdown: An 11 day bike event across Wisconsin, America’s Diaryland (take that California cows) and a chance to win cold hard moola – last year over $150,000 in cash and primes was awarded. Plus there will be plenty of low-fat chocolate milk providing delicious hydration along the way.

The Color Run
The Lowdown: Get doused head to toe with different colors of paint tossed your way along each kilometer. Be healthy, be happy and have fun at the “Happiest 5K on the Planet!” Proceeds benefit Ustrucks Battle Batten Disease.

Wisconsin Warrior Dash
The Lowdown: Warrior Dash is the world’s largest obstacle race series where participants earn their Warrior helmet by conquering an intense 3.31 mile course with 13 extreme obstacles. Proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Milwaukee Dirty Girl Mud Run
The Lowdown: This is the premiere women’s mud run event jam packed with fun, obstacles, girl power, high fives, lots of laughs, crazy team uniforms and, of course, mud! Proceeds Benefit Breast Cancer awareness and research.
